Having a fixed sidenav comes in handy when dealing with blog style websites where the content is extremely tall and there is a need for good amount of scrolling. The fixed navigation allows the user to cruise through the content without scrolling back up to the top to navigate through the rest of the site.

As I was checking out some flash sites for inspiration, I ran across a couple websites that had some nice navigation effects. I’m not a huge fan of wildly animated navs, but these had simple and elegant roll over effects that I liked. I decided to imitate the effect with CSS and jQuery, and would like to share this technique today.

Navigation List menu + JQuery Animate Effect Tutorial JQeury is a fantastic javascript framework that really amazes me a lot. This tutorial will show you how to create an attractive menu just a small touch by using JQuery animate effect. One of the reasons I learn JQuery is that it keeps my HTML code clean, I can isolate javascript in different files. Before this, I used onmouseover, onmouseout, onclick and element ID on the list, and you'll know how messy it can be. (I'm still using it in this website! gotta change it sometimes) Now, with JQuery, it saves me a lot of works.

Generally, the iPhone SDK is not that bad, however they left out an important feature that app developers really need - the ability to change the color of navigation buttons. Navigation buttons live on the very top of the application and are usually there to navigation backwards and forwards through views.

This tutorial, we will be making a jQuery Sliding Tab Menu for sidebar. Previously, I made a tutorial about jQuery Tabbed Interface / Tabbed Structure Menu, if you have not read it yet, check it out. I'm using it for my sidebar at the moment. The differences between both tab menus are, the sliding direction and this time, we are using a little bit different HTML structure and massive change in jQuery script.

A lot of websites on the Internet have tabbed content now a days. The problem I find with most of them is that most of the time they can be quite dull. For my new looks I created a container which has the ability to switch content through tabs, but with an animation. This tutorial will show you how to create your own tabbed content step by step.

Jonathan Snook debuted a great tutorial last September detailing how you can use an image and a few jQuery techniques to create a slick mouseover effect. I revisited his article and ported its two most impressive effects to MooTools.
